In a move to simplify and streamline the method of tax collection to support all of the above listed activities, the Police Jury joined with the Parish School Board and the City of Natchitoches several years ago to form the Natchitoches Parish Tax Commission. This body serves as the single point of collection and disbursement of sales tax and Business and Occupational License revenues for the various parish entities. The Commission is a joint body of the Police Jury, the School Board and the City of Natchitoches. The Commission has eased the steps necessary for people going into or continuing a business locally, as well as increased the efficiency of the collection process.
