The Natchitoches Parish Housing Authority has board members appointed by the Police Jury and has been in operation since the early 1970s. It is responsible for assisting low income families secure affordable housing throughout the parish.
The Authority manages several housing units/apartments itself, and also contracts with a number of rural landlords in finding housing where it is most needed. Similar to other agencies not directly under the umbrella of the Police Jury, the office contracts for many of its services with the state and federal government.
